Looksmart increases submission fees

The LookSmart directory has increased submission prices and added a new pay for modification option. When LookSmart introduced their pay for submission about a year and a half ago, customers could get express service for $199. The price for Express Submit is now $299, up a little more than 50 percent. Basic Submit prices have also increased.  For Basic Submitters, the price has been increasing since the service was introduced last June. The starting price for Basic Submit was $49. Since June 2000, the price was increased three times. It now costs $149 to use the Basic Submit feature at LookSmart. There are also LookListings, based more on the pay per click model, requiring a minimum $1000 spend per month, with three months use required.

Aside from price increases, LookSmart introduced a new pay for use service last month. Express Modify is now the official channel for requesting changes to your LookSmart listings. You can request a description change for $199, or you can try to get listed in another category for $149. These services aren’t for everyone. Small newly listed businesses aren’t the Express Modify target. These prices are aimed at older listings looking for a change. Express Modify isn’t for changing your URL though, for that you need to resubmit the site to LookSmart. As always, nothing in LookSmart is guaranteed, so your requested changes can be denied.
