Overture's Altavista deal closes

Overture announced today that their deal to buy Altavista has closed.  We announced to you that Overture had agreed to purchase Altavista back in February.  A few days later they announced they were also buying Fast/Alltheweb.

These purchases help them to push on with their plan to become an all inclusive search results provider.

Shareholders reacted strongly to the purchases and to this day Overture's share price has not made a significant recovery.  While I agree with Overture's vision of their own future, I really wonder if they will be around long enough to make it happen.  After all, it would be nice to have someone other than Google as a viable search alternative.
