Overture made two announcements recently

  • Apr. 22, 2003

Overture recently made two major announcements concerning their search service.  The first is that the deal to buy Alltheweb has been completed.  The deal, for $70 million cash and an additional up to $30 million as a performance incentive, paves the way for Overture to become a full service search results provider.  The deal will also give Overture access to Alltheweb’s 50 different language capabilities.  And expand their reach into Europe and Japan.

The second big announcement from Overture was that their pay per click offerings in South Korea had officially launched.

Overture boasts a reach of around 92% of the total South Korean internet market through its partners, to whom it will provide pay for performance listings.  Overture has set up an office in Seoul, South Korea, with a staff of 40. Their advertising partners include the main South Korean portals Daum Communications, MSN Korea, HanaroDream and Dreamwiz.

South Korea is just the first of many new markets Overture hopes to tap into in the coming year.
