Ask Jeeves providing improved results

  • Apr. 21, 2003

Ask Jeeves updated its software this weekend after a year long process. The new Ask Jeeves provides news headlines, pictures provided in results, more content and faster page load times. The focus is to give the users what they want and to lessen the amount of click thrus so users can find the appropriate data faster.

Provided in search results now are news headlines that relate to your search, and Ask Jeeves is also providing photos in its results. For example, if you search for Walt Disney photos, it will display images from Disney movies and characters. Likewise, if you search for Iraq, at the top of the page will be some news headlines concerning the latest news development from Iraq.

Just last week, Yahoo revamped it search results providing similar options for the user to choose from with news head. Both of these changes from Yahoo and Ask Jeeves are focusing on giving the user what they want. With Google continuing to gain popularity over the past few years, this has resulted in many search engines looking to continually improve their results and stop them from leaving them for other search engines.
