The Open Directory Project (ODP) consists of 40,000 volunteer editors that monitor 200,000 categories.  An important directory to be listed in since it provides results to Google, Lycos, AOL, Netscape and approximately 180 other Search Portals.  ODP currently has 2.3 million URLs in its database, making it the single largest search directory today. Submission Notes It is VERY important to submit your site to the most appropriate category with a Title and Description that objectively explains the content of your site. The editors are skeptical about site submissions starting with "AA" or "#1", unless that is the actual company name (since they organize the categories alphabetically). Do not submit mirror site (with the same content as another URL you own) or sites under construction. Do not submit sites using re-directs on the home page. It is not advised to submit websites that consist largely of affiliate links instead of unique content. It doesn't hurt to have a link back to the Open Directory from your site.
