Evaluating Your Search
Engine Optimization Campaign
A good search engine marketing
campaign will do two things for you. First of all, it
will bring more traffic. Second of all, it will bring
the right kind of traffic. The number of visitors that
will come depend on a number of factors, including
which keywords are used to optimize.
We're often asked, "How
many visitors can you bring per month?". It's a
valid question. After all, bringing more visitors is
the main purpose of the program. But it's also a
question that's very hard to determine. Some of our
clients are positioned for very specific keywords. The
numbers of visitors that come from search engines
monthly may be relatively small, a few hundred
perhaps, but very qualified. On the other hand, we
have clients who are well positioned for very broad,
popular keywords who attract thousands of visitors from
the search engines every month, but the conversion
rate may be a fraction of that seen by a more
specialized positioning program.
Regardless, there are three
factors that will remain true with any successful
search engine marketing program:
You will see an increase in
traffic, generally about 50% higher over the first
6 months or so.
Search engine marketing is
by far the most cost
effective form of online marketing. Total
costs for our positioning programs averages about
5 cents a visitor
The visitors from search
engines are of a much
higher quality than that generated by any
other form of online marketing.
